Does Taylor Swift REALLY Deserve The Kennedy Award?
WennIt has been announced that Taylor Swift will be awarded with the Kennedy Award but, for many critics, the 'Love Story' singer does not deserve the accolade.
Swift, famous for her strong country music career and adorability factor, will be honoured with the prestigious Kennedy Award due to her "generosity" and "compassion".
But, for many critics, Taylor is undeserving of the honour and was only put forward for the award due to her close friendship with Patrick Schwarzenegger.
Patrick, son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, has become very close with Taylor Swift, spending time with the pretty singer on a yacht for this year's July 4th celebrations.
However it seems as if the pair's close friendship is causing her charitable work to be called into question; ever since it was announced that Taylor would receive the Schwarzenegger family's high profile Ripples Of Hope Award, people have begun to question whether she truly deserves the honour.
Haters gonna hate, we guess.
A representative for the foundation has since come forward to E! Online, explaining that the award is definitely NOT being bestowed upon Taylor due to her friendship with Schwarzenegger, but due to her generosity.
What strikes me most about Taylor is the work she does away from the spotlight her leadership in the movement for arts education, her generosity to communities devastated by natural disaster and especially the compassion shes shown as a proud defender against bullying and LGBTI discrimination.
The Kennedy Center President, Kerry Kennedy, went on to say that Taylor is well on her way to building a brighter and better world for us all:
As my father Robert Kennedy said to the stu! dents of South Africa in 1966, our worlds hope rests with our youth... As a young person, Taylor has already accomplished so much, and I look forward to watching all that she will do to help build a brighter, more peaceful world for us all.
