Taylor Swift visits 10-year-old cancer patient in Nebraska

Taylor Swift recently took some time to visit a young cancer patient in Omaha, Neb.

Swift, 23, visited the Children's Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha on Saturday to see 10-year-old Lauren Hacker, according to the Associated Press.

Hacker, who is a fifth-grader at St. Margaret Mary School, is battling cancer. Her father took some time to post details about Swift's visit.

"Taylor Swift stopped by Lauren's room at the hospital around 1 pm in the afternoon," he wrote on the website. "She spent about an hour chatting with Lauren and Jonathan. Jonathan played a song on the ukulele for her. Lauren got in on the act and played a song on the electronic piano key board that she got for her birthday. Taylor was very impressed with both performances. I don't mean 'polite impressed.' I mean 'real impressed.'"

Taylor shared stories from her childhood as she was getting her start as an entertainer and she told us all about the special stage designs of her new show," he continued. "She posed for photos with everyone. ... Just before she had to leave, Taylor got out a bag of goodies for Lauren and provided autographs on notebooks, photographs and guitar picks. ... It was a great afternoon for everyone and I'm sure Lauren will remember it for many years to come. So, to Taylor Swift, from a very grateful dad, thank! s for bri! ghtening our day!

The Omaha World-Herald, who has exclusive images of the pair's meeting, reports that Swift's visit was lobbied for on social media. It was later arranged by Hacker's family and the singer's representatives.

Swift is set to kick off her worldwide tour for her latest album, "Red," on Wednesday, March 13 in Omaha.

In April 2012, the country crooner was set to take an 18-year-old leukemia patient named Kevin McGuire as her date to the Academy of Country Music Awards.

Unfortunately, Swift informed her fans on March 31 that McGuire was not well enough to attend the ceremony, posting on Twitter: "Please keep him in your thoughts. I'll make it up to you, Kevin!"
