Taylor Swift, Foo Fighters , more set for Grammys

The Grammy Awards successful quest to draw younger viewers in recent years will continue in 2012. Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson have all been confirmed to perform during the 54th annual Grammy Awards telecast on CBS on Feb. 12. The show will air from 8 to 11:30 p.m.

Mars has six nominations, as does the band Foo Fighters, which will also perform. Aldean and the extremely colorful Minaj will both be making their Grammy performance debuts. Minaj has four nominations, while Aldean and Swift each have three. Clarkson, who performs in San Diego April 10 at the Valley View Casino Center, has two nominations.

The big question, of course, is whether Adele -- who is expected to be the night's biggest winner -- will have recovered from her recent throat surgery sufficiently to perform at the Grammys.

Her second album, last year's "21," was the best-selling release by any artist in 2011, nationally and internationally, and resulted in her earning nominations in three of the four most prestigious Grammy categories. A performance by Adele during the Grammy telecast would help ensure an even larger viewing audience.

Meanwhile, don't be surprised if Paul McCartney makes a cameo on the telecast. The former Beatle will be honored on Feb. 10 at the all-star MusiCares tribute concert, an annual pre-Grammy event that salutes prominent musicians for their humanitarian work. While the MusiCares event honoring him is no guarantee McCartney will appear on the Grammys, it does increase the chances.
