THIS is probably the most cringeworthy thing we've seen all year.

Taylor Swift had a seriously awkward moment on stage last night as she picked up her People's Choice Award.

Having already had to put on a brave face following her very public split from One Direction's Harry Styles, poor Taylor faced even more embarrassment when she got up on stage to collect her PCA for Favourite Country Artist.

Host Olivia Munn refused to hand over the gong, calling the moment "awkward", refusing to react when Taylor hugged her and even taking the award out of the 22-year-old's hands.

The joke was apparently to poke fun of! Taylor's previous 'Kanye' moment, when Kanye West stormed the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards and told the audience that Beyonce deserved the award more.

But despite the staged awkward moment with Olivia, Taylor made sure she didn't let things get out of hand this time, keeping a firm grip on the gong and telling Olivia: "this always happens...God!"

Olivia responded with: "And it will always happen, Taylor, this is your lot in life."

The pair then shared an uncomfortable silence before Olivia gave up the gag and finally let Taylor make her acceptance speech.

Thankfully, it looks like Taylor forgave Olivia, posing for a snap with her backstage following her speech.
