Taylor Swift is allegedly facing court over a cancelled music festival.

The singer was booked and apparently paid $2.5 million in advance to headline a country music festival in Canada last summer, which was subsequently cancelled.

However, the star is now facing a lawsuit over the payment, with the promoters claiming Swift should hand back the fee to cover ticket refunds, reports TMZ.

Promoters Capital Hoedown failed to put together a lineup for the festival, leading to its cancellation after selling a large number of tickets.

They are now arguing that Swift should contribute her fee to cover $1.8m-worth of ticket refunds, according to documents filed in New York's federal court.

Swift's representatives have told TMZ that her deal does not involve the ticket company and that she is not responsible for paying out refunds.

They also added that they have yet to have been officially told about the impending lawsuit.
