Taylor Swift responds to Aurora teen's prom request

AURORA - The high school student from Aurora who asked Taylor Swift to prom on 9NEWS two weeks ago finally received a response from the superstar.

Devin Whitney recently graduated from Eagle Crested High School. He suffers from a rare disease called Oto-Palatal-Digital Syndrome. The disease affects Devin from his head to his toes.

Since he was born, he's had more than two dozen surgeries.

Devin says he feels different because of the way ! he looks . In an effort to feel normal, Devin decided to create a YouTube video asking Taylor Swift if she would be his date to the senior prom.

"I really, really want her to be my prom date if that's OK with her," Devin told 9NEWS two weeks ago.

Devin's YouTube video went viral, garnering more than 3,000 views.

This past Saturday was Devin's prom. On Friday, a representative from Taylor Swift's group contacted Devin's family and let Devin know that Taylor couldn't make it, but that she thinks he's a very special boy.

Devin was thrilled to hear the response and decided to go to his prom regardless.

It's a good thing he did go, because he was named Prom King at Eagle Crest High School for 2012.
