Taylor Swift debuting new song on MTV VMAs

There's one tune Taylor Swift has never (ever, ever) played live for an audience before. The songs so super-secret, were not even sure of the title. But all will be revealed Sept. 6 during this year's MTV Video Music Awards.

Swift is the latest performer to be added to the awards show's bill (One Direction, Pink, Alicia Keys and Green Day already sent in their RSVP's), and on show night, MTV says she'll debut a brand new song off of upcoming album Red (out Oct. 22).

Miley Cyrus will be in the audience watching -- as will Wiz Khalifa and Olympic gold-medallists Gabby Douglas, Jordyn Wieber, Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney and Kyla Ross (those personalities have just been confirmed as VMA presenters). As for us, we'll just be live-blogging the action, wondering whether Kanye can stay in his seat 'til Swifty takes a bow.

It's been a good morning for Taylor Swift news, VMA announcement aside. The singer's new single, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," is on track to break chart records, reports HitsDailyDouble. According to the sales-figure predictor service, the record is expected to sell between 615-625,000 units in its first week -- which would make for the highest single-week sales by a female artist ever.

And if Swift pulls off that record-breaking achievement, shell have one more anecdote to share during her new TV special. Entertainment Weekly reports Swift will feature on an upcoming episode of VH1 Storytellers, where she'll showcase her upcoming album Red. No word when that episode will air, but Swift is running a contest through Sept. 23 that will select the filming location. According to EW, the special will tape at a high school or university selected through the sweepstakes.

The 2012 MTV VMAs air on MuchMusic Thursday, September 6 at 8 p.m. ET.
