Taylor Swift Was 2011s Big Money Winner For Music Industry

For the last several years it has been nearly impossible to escape the grasp of Taylor Swift. Her songs play on country stations, receive massive pop station airtime and shes always on stage at awards shows. For that reason it shouldnt come as a surprise to learn that Swift was the big music money winner of 2011.

Swift this week topped Billboards Money Makers list thanks to an estimated 2011 haul of $35 million.

Taylor managed to beat out top money list regulars U2 which recorded $32 million in profits for 2011 along with Kenny Chesney, Lady Gaga and Lil Wayne.

The young singer/songwriter was also able to roll over Adele whos sophomore album 21 sold more than 5 million units in 2011. Adele was however out of commission for an extended period of time because of throat surgery which in turn took away largely from her touring revenues.

The 2011 top earners list was based on a combination of U.S! . income sources which included album sales, tours and royalties for airplay, licensing agreements, etc.

The list however may not be a complete examination of the top earners because Billboard says it did not include sponsorships, merchandise sales or synchronization deals.

The showing is impressive for Taylor Swift who had to extend her Speak Now tour in order to satisfy heavy demand during a time when many artists were witnessing declining audiences during their tours. Taylor Swift is most recently satisfying tour date in Austrlia.
