Taylor Swift Wants to 'Begin Again' on New Single: Listen
Taylor Swift has moved on from a rocky relationship on her new track, "Begin Again," which debuted on iTunes at midnight on Tuesday (Sept. 25) after the young country pop star previewed the song on "Good Morning America."
The slow, country-inspired track is a drastic departure in tone and in message from Swift's pop-heavy, radio-friendly "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," the first single from her upcoming album "Red," due Oct. 22.
"Begin Again" tells the story of a fresh love, comparing a new crush with her old boyfriend -- "I think it's strange that you think I'm funny, because he never did," she sings on the four-minute track. "I've been spending the last eight months thinking all love ever does is break and burn and end. But on a Wednesday, in a cafe, I watched it begin again."
It's a somber but optimistic song, and the singer-songwriter style will remind Swift's fans that the 22-year-old musician isn't changing her style too much on "Red" -- she's still the same Taylor that crossed genres and gave pop a country tinge with albums like "Fearless" and "Speak Now."

"It's actually a song about kind of when you've gotten through a really bad relationship and you finally dust yourself off and go on that first date after a horrible breakup and the vulnerability that goes along with all of that," Swift explained on "Good Morning America" before previewing the new song.
Last week, Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" dropped to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, while Maroon 5's "One More Night" climbed to No.! 1. "Never" landed a fifth consecutive week atop the Digital Songs chart, however, and climbed 7-6 on Radio Songs. In August, the track debuted on the Hot 100 at No. 72, and flew to No. 1 in its second week. It spent three weeks atop the Hot 100 and has sold 1.7 million downloads, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
