Zac Brown Band Misses Top 10, Taylor Swift Sees Double on Country Charts

While Country Songs is crowned for a second straight week by Little Big Town's "Pontoon," the most conspicuous title in the upper third of that list is Zac Brown Band's "The Wind," which takes a 14th week tumble to No. 16 following a No. 11 peak on last week's chart, with an audience dip of more than four million impressions (20%).

This bend in the band's otherwise unblemished chart path marks the first time they haven't achieved a No. 1 or a No. 2 single since they first appeared with "Chicken Fried," which led for two weeks in December 2008, launching a career-to-date total of eight No. 1's and a pair of songs that stopped at No. 2.

The current track is the lead single from Uncaged, which has spent five weeks at No. 1 on Country Albums with a half million in sales, according to SoundScan. Label sources say that "Goodbye In Her Eyes" is the second single from the album, and will be serviced to programmers September 17, with promotion to be handled in-house by the Southern Ground label radio staff. Meanwhile, "The Wind" moves 12,000 downloads and ranks at No. 33 in its 14th week on Country Digital Songs (257,000 sold to date).

For the first time ever, two country songs sell more than 200,000 downloads in a single week. Taylor Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" continues to lead Country Digital Songs with 284,000 downloads, while her cancer benefit song "Ronan" opens at No. 2 with 211,000 sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Concurrently, "Never" achieves top 20 ranks in both audience and plays (No. 19 on Country Songs), and gets Airpower stripes in its fourth week. The title earns its first weekly audience! gain si nce it debuted at No. 13 four weeks ago.

Meanwhile, Country Albums is led for a seventh cumulative week by Carrie Underwood's "Blown Away," which sells 30,000 in its 19th chart week.
