Weekly Chart Notes: After Taylor Swift And P!nk, Who's Next To No. 1?

Despite having made 45 prior visits, Taylor Swift didn't score her first Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 until "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," her 46th attempt, soared 72-1 on the ranking earlier this month.

This week, P!nk tops the Billboard 200 at last, as "The Truth About Love" launches at the summit. Having first appeared on the list more than 12 years ago, P!nk had charted five previous studio albums and one best-of set, rising as high as No. 2 with "Funhouse" in 2008.

(Swift had, however, already tallied two No. 1s on the Billboard 200 prior to her first Hot 100 coronation, while P!nk had collected three Hot 100 leaders before crowning the Billboard 200.)

What other star acts have, perhaps surprisingly, yet to top a prominent Billboard chart? And, who yet might?

On the Hot 100, Justin Bieber remains in the hunt for his first No. 1, among 29 total charted titles, having risen as high as No. 2 in April with "Boyfriend." Could "As Long as You Love Me," featuring Big Sean, become his first No. 1? It currently bullets at No. 7.

Bieber has, however, sent four albums to the top of the Billboard 200, with "Believe" opening atop the July 7 tally.

Nicki Minaj has made 42 Hot 100 visits but none so far has resulted in a first-place finish. (With Swift now having reigned, Minaj boasts the most appearances among women without a No. 1.) Her current single, "Pound the Alarm," meanwhile, clocks a 17-15 rise this week.

Still, Minaj remains perfect on the Billboard 200, where the newly-minted "American Idol" judge has reigned with her first two entries, "Pink Friday" in 2011 and "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded" in April (a feat of which she ! could remind any contestants should they question her opinion if she opts not to send them on to Hollywood).

And, while the "Glee" cast holds the record for the most Hot 100 hits - 204 - the Fox TV troupe has yet to receive higher than a No. 4 grade, having arrived with "Don't Stop Believin'," which reached that rank the week of June 6, 2009. Conversely on the Billboard 200, the act has earned three No. 1s.

In the Hot 100's 54-year history, James Brown follows the "Glee" cast for the most Hot 100 hits without a No. 1. Of his 91 entries, 1965's "I Got You (I Feel Good)" rose the highest (No. 3). Next in line are Jackie Wilson (53 Hot 100 hits, no No. 1s), Brook Benton (48) and Fats Domino (45). Such veterans as Bruce Springsteen (26 entries), Journey (25) and Bob Dylan (23) also never ruled the Hot 100, while Creedence Clearwater Revival deserves a reassuring kudos, having peaked at a career-best No. 2 with five titles in 1969-70.

On the Billboard 200, the Grateful Dead has charted the most albums without reaching No. 1 - 56 (the total expands this week with the No. 157 bow of "Spring 1990: So Glad You Made It II") - while such venerable acts as Phish (30) Tom Petty (21) and Sting (16, including three No. 2-peaking sets) have fallen shy of the top spot. (Sting did reign for a whopping 17 weeks with the Police's "Synchronicity" in 1983.)

Perhaps one of today's top acts will score her first Billboard 200 No. 1 by the end of the year. Rihanna has reached the top 10 with all six of her studio albums dating to her No. 10-peaking 2005 debut, "Music of the Sun," climbing as high as No. 2 with "Good Girl Gone Bad" in 2007. Her last two releases, 2010's "Loud" and last year's ! "Talk Tha! t Talk," each reached No. 3.

"Diamonds," the lead single from Rihanna's forthcoming set, could add to her impressive No. 1s sum on the Hot 100. With an expected top 10 Hot 100 launch this coming week, the song could be in line to shine atop the list, where Rihanna has already sent 11 songs to No. 1.
