Taylor Swift Invites Teen Battling Cancer To ACM Awards

Taylor Swift will have a very special date to the ACM Awards on April 1st, reports USA Today. Kevin McGuire, a teenager from New Jersey who is battling Leukemia, asked Taylor to be his date to his senior prom on June 1st, which also happens to be his 18th birthday. Taylor couldnt make his prom but she invited him to be her date to the ACMs via her Facebook page instead.
Kevin, Im so sorry but I wont be able to make it to your prom, she wrote. But I was wondering, the ACM Awards are coming up. Would you be my date? Love, Taylor.
Kevins quest to have Taylor as his prom date started when his sister, Victoria, set up a Facebook page for him. She believed it would reach just her friends and maybe their friends, but within days, tens of thousands of people had liked the page and were tweeting in support of Kevin.
Nothing, and I mean nothing, brightens Kevins day more than Taylor Swift, she wrote on the page. Kevin deserves more than anyone else a special event in his life and the one thing he wants is to go to prom with Taylor Swift!
This is Kevins second battle with Leukemia. He was first diagnosed as a 13-year-old in January 2007 and believed he had beaten the illness in April 2010. Hi! s classm ates at Sterling High School have rallied around him by selling T-shirts and sweatshirts with a Superman logo on the front, and the message, Team Kevin. We support our Superman on the back.
Everyone here loves Kevin, and many of our students have known him for years, Bill Scully, Kevins McGuires guidance counselor, said. To see his dream come true would mean a lot to them.
Kevin didnt need to think twice about accepting Taylors invitation. Obviously I said yes, he said, calling the ACMs a lot better than the senior prom. Kevin is currently hospitalized however and acknowledged his illness may keep him from making the trip to Vegas saying Im sick and Im not sure if Im able to.
